Darkly Dreaming – THE Romance Fantasy Anthology you all want!!!!

Peoples!

Long time no speak! I really should get in the habit of blogging at least a bit more, but like all of you out there, I’ll believe it when I see it  🙂  9781311727428

A HUGE, WONDEROUS, AMAZING, ABSOLUTELY FANTABULOUS piece of news! I’m part of a very limited time box set! Darkly Dreaming is a Fantasy Romance Anthology which moi and four other premiere authors of fantasy and paranormal – Elizabeth Hunter, Grace Draven, Kristen Painter, and Cate Rowan – get together to offer FIVE full-length novels for $.99!!!!

My contribution? Stone Guardian a’course! But even if you have SG, you want to pick up this set. $.99 wouldn’t even buy you one of these books during most of the year, so all five is a ridiculous bargain.

Why we doing such a crazy thing? Promotion of course! And like any good promotion, this is a limited time offer – one month for this one, to be exact. So pick it up NOW!!!!  😀

The set goes live on September 15. You can preorder right now at Amazon, Apple iBooks, and Smashwords, and I’ll give you the links to the other stores as they become available.

What’s next for the Entwined Realms?

Mistakes. I’ve made a few.

This post is part mea culpa and part information overload. The information part has to do with the next books in my Entwined Realms series. Stone_Embrace_final800The sincere apologies – that comes from me making unthinking, unknowing, oops I had no clue goof-ups. All I can say in my defense is Stone Guardian was my first novel, and I didn’t know everything that went into doing this author stuff both in the home life side and in the online side. It’s been a lot of learning over the last nine months.

The biggest mistake I made was announcing release dates and not meeting them. Out of everything I’ve goofed on, I’m most embarrassed by that, and I truly apologize for not only the wait, but for disappointing the ones who have been standing beside me the longest. I could give all the details on what happened, but it’s common and kinda boring. In the end, what matters is I didn’t do what I said I would. One thing I can guarantee is it won’t happen again.

Cage_King_finalDani  – I imagine you all saying – I hear ya, and we’ll discuss later. Most important thing to me now? What’s the release schedule looking like and when can I expect some books? Can you tell me?

You bet! One thing I’ve learned is I’m not (yet) an author that can give a release date. But what I can do – and am comfortable in doing, since I’m far enough in all these books to give a good guess – is give a rough time frame. And that, my friends, is what I’ll do right now.

First up is Stone Embrace (top right), which is basically a 50 page extended epilogue to Stone Guardian. You’ll have dinner with the Miller clan (and watch Jack Miller and Terak discuss) and get some more relationship stuff with Larissa and Terak. Stone Embrace is going to be a free read – it was written as a thank you to my readers. Expect Stone Embrace end of Juneish.

Second will be a novella entitled The Cage King. It is meant to bridge between books 1 and 2. Why this instead of finishing the novel? Chalk that up to a (slight) mistake and author learning time. See, I was going to be part of an anthology with other authors who I admire very much, and the anthology was going to made up of all new material. Looking back, I shouldn’t have gone down this path, but I followed the new and shiny and plotted out this novella.

The anthology ultimately didn’t pan out, but though I tried to go back to finishing book 2, the reality was I put a few important world-building elements into The Cage KingDreamCrafterFront800 that have long-reaching effects, and I couldn’t think of an elegant way of unraveling that novella and placing the elements back into the main book series. So I forge ahead with this novella. No worries, Fallon and Laire are there to lend their unique flair, so hopefully you’ll enjoy it even though it’s not book 2. The Cage King will be out Augustish.

Finally, what you’ve all been waiting for. The Dream Crafter is book 2 in the Entwined Realms. A mercenary and a woman who controls dreams, battling over a powerful spellbook, on the run from the Guild, the necromancers, and a few brand-new baddies. Here you will experience a magical BDSM club, a redneck ninja, and a berserker who sings opera. What more could you need in a book, other than even more Fallon and Laire (who are of course on hand)? Nothing, I tell you. The Dream Crafter will be out late Septemberish.

Phew. That’s a lot of info. Hopefully this brings everyone up-to-date so there is no more confusion over what’s going on in the series.

Once again, I apologize for the craziness. You have come with me on my author adventure and learning, and I know it wasn’t the most fun. As my mom always told me, “Sorry is one thing, but how are you going to make it up?” In my case, I am going to be putting up both The Cage King and The Dream Crafter up free the first week they are available for sale, so everyone who has been so patient will be able to grab it up. It’s my way of saying Thank You for sticking by me, and I’m Sorry for being such a pain  🙂  If you want to be absolutely sure you know the moment it goes on sale, the best way I know of doing that is signing up for my newsletter – I promise I’ll email a couple times while the free is going on. As I stated above, Stone Embrace was written to be free – I’m never going to charge for it.

Take care everyone! See you around on twitter or facebook – but not too much, or feel free to tell me to get back to writing  🙂

Six Sentence Sunday – Loving a Prince Charming

LovingaPrinceCharming_800pxAnd yes, in the midst of my merry-making at Sakura-Con, I come to you to share more Fairy Tale goodness with the next book in my Fairy Tales & Ever Afters series, Loving a Prince Charming!

At its heart, Loving a Prince Charming is a friends-to-lovers story. Seth and Kira have grown-up together. As Prince, Seth has been engaged since he was very young to a neighboring kingdom’s princess, so he’s deliberately kept his thoughts of Kira on the best friend level, but you know, sometimes that spark of attraction breaks through at the most innocuous times…

His face was inches from hers, so close the brown ring that shaded the green of her irises was visible. He could count each individual eyelash and eyebrow hair, both of them a darker than the hair on her head, a touch of brown added to the true red.

With her red hair and fair skin, she should have freckles, but she didn’t. What she had instead was a wide mouth that had a perfectly formed top lip and a too-thin bottom lip, but those two combined created the most glorious smile he had ever beheld on anyone.

That was Kira in a nutshell, dazzling in her slight imperfections. Blessed with quick wits and battle skills only men usually possessed, and far more feminine than any lady who dedicated herself to gossip and fashion.

Loving a Prince Charming will be released late April!

Six Sentence Sunday – Loving a Prince Charming

Yes, yes, I know, I’m a punk and need to be better about my blogging – la la la.

LovingaPrinceCharming_800pxBut enough about that. I am currently in the editing stage for the next book of my Fairy Tales & Ever After series! Rejoice with me, all lovers of slightly fractured fairy tales!

Loving a Prince Charming is my remake of Sleeping Beauty (Loving a Fairy Godmother was Cinderella and Loving an Ugly Beast was Beauty and the Beast). Those wacky fairy godmothers do have a guest appearance – Pshaw! as if I could keep them away! – and you might just see a return appearance of that original gangsta fairy, the Elf King.

This baby is still in serious edit mode (so the following is subject to change) but here is a snippet from early in our story, where Seth (our Prince Charming) is rescued from some overanxious admirers by Kira (the one who puts up with him).

“It’s safe, your Cowardness.”

He poked his head around. “They’re all gone?”

“The scary girls are no more.”

“Are you mocking me?” He looked up, up, and up. Thank heavens he was taller than most himself, or he might have some inadequacy issues being her best friend. “How’d you get so tall? Your dad is short.”

Look for Loving a Prince Charming to be out late April/Early May!

Six Sentence Sunday – Loving an Ugly Beast

LovinganUglyBeast_800pxI have a new release coming out! Joy and Wonderment!

Last year was not a big release year for me. I was writing, sure, but I was doing the behind the scenes projects, the ones where I am currently in wait mode over.

While just writing is wonderful, there is nothing quite like releasing a product out there into the wild, letting it free for all the peoples to see and enjoy (or mock me over, your choice).

Loving an Ugly Beast, the second book in my Fairy Tales & Ever Afters series, will be coming out in the next few weeks. We’re doing all that good finalizing stuff right now – for example, it doesn’t have a back cover copy yet… working on it! – but the finish line is in sight.

So in honor of this momentous occasion, today we will celebrate by releasing a snippet in Six Sentence fashion. This little scene is at the beginning of the story, where our heroine Nissa is experiencing all these messy feelings that threaten her friendship with her beastly best friend, Benton. Oh no! Don’t you hate when that happens?

Enjoy!

And now the day was ending as it often did, with them against a thick oak a few feet away from the lake’s edge while Nissa read. Today’s selection was love sonnets at Benton’s request, the eloquent, sometimes naughty verses stoking Nissa’s longing for the man whose head now lay in her lap.

One hand held the book while the other stroked through his thick, dark hair. As the last sonnet ended she closed the book but couldn’t quite bring herself to stop this allowable touch. “Benton?”

Benton looked up at her, and for one unguarded moment his eyes shone from within with a fierce, hungry light. A shiver – part warning, part longing – snaked over her skin and left raw, exposed nerves in its wake. “Benton?”

Six Sentence Sunday – Loving a Fairy Godmother

Yay, Six Sentence Sunday time again!

If you’ve never heard of it before, Six Sentence is a rather simple concept. Authors share six sentences from one of their works. It could be a work in progress, a book not yet released, or a book that’s available for purchase.

Today I share a snippet from  Loving a Fairy Godmother. LFG is my recently re-released take on Cinderella and the first story in my series, “Fairy Tales and Ever Afters”.

This is the scene where we first meet our hero Tiernan, from our heroine Reina’s POV:

Under the trees and surrounded by his harem, Tiernan lounged in the grass, his relaxed demeanor proclaiming he didn’t have a care in the world.

The other Godmothers were gazing at him in dreamy adoration, as if every word that came from his mouth was a miracle. Though, to be fair, they might consider the miracle more what his shirt and breeches covered and less what came from his mind, considering how many glances Reina counted checking out those two areas.

He was a beautiful man. Even at her most annoyed, Reina could never deny that. Sandy blond hair, eyes the color of a summer sky, and dimples that made every woman who saw them start fanning herself.

Beautiful, but not perfect, with the nose that had been broken at least once and scars slashed into his skin, testifying about his life as a soldier as much as the broad shoulders and heavily muscled body did.

I adore Tiernan. He’s one of my favorite characters so far.

As an aside, while I did not base Tiernan’s looks on any individual, I recently came across a guy that – while not 100% – came pretty close to how I pictured Tiernan.

He’s an actor by the name of Josh Holloway and my understanding is he’s known from the television show “Lost” (which I never watched). Check out my boards on pinterest if you’re interested in seeing Reina or who may have inspired other characters in my books.

Latest Book Release – Loving a Fairy Godmother

Okay, this is something of a cheat, because Loving a Fairy Godmother is actually a re-release of a book previously published with Liquid Silver Books.

While I enjoyed my time with LSB, unfortunately Loving a Fairy Godmother was not a good fit and sales were not as good as I would have wished. Therefore, I got my rights back and decided to self-pub the story.

Except for a couple minor changes, this version is almost identical to the LSB edition – so if you’ve got that one, don’t worry that you’re missing anything!

The latest edition of Loving a Fairy Godmother has an absolutely fantastic cover, designed by Kim Killion of Hot Damn Designs. Let me show it off a little… sigh…

And even better, I’m making this into a series, which I have named Fairy Tales & Ever Afters! I’ll be giving a sneak peak of the covers and blurbs of other books in the series over the next few weeks. Those books will be releasing fall/winter 2012!

So if you enjoy humorous updates on your favorite fairy tales, naughty godmothers (and fathers!), an even naughtier Cinderella, and a good, old-fashioned Happily Ever After, then Loving a Fairy Godmother just may be for you!

If you want more info, go to the books tab at the top of the blog. You’ll find blurb, excerpt, and where to buy info there.

Back from Romantic Times Convention

It has been way way too long since I posted, but I got a good excuse – honest!

You see, I’m not just a geek, I am an author geek, someone who writes stories for a living. And with that being the case, I sometimes go to conventions that celebrate romance and writing.

This last week I was at the Romantic Times Convention. With this being my first time at this particular convention, there were some hiccups as I learned the ropes and got the lay of the land. However, many awesome things did happen.

I met authors! I met authors I like! I met (or spoke to for a moment and did not escorted out by security – same thing!) JR Ward, Anne Rice, Kristen Painter, Kate Pearce, Delilah Marvelle, Eden Bradley, and many, many others.

Over the next several days I shall share stories and review some of the books I got. I shall also be doing a giveaway (or three!)

Stay tuned…
